It turns out I’m really bad at blogging. To be honest, I often have no clue what to write. Or perhaps I’m just Not That Online. I for sure missed sharing my experience doing the Clarion West Flash Fiction Workshop last summer.
However, I do have some exciting news that is a direct result of that workshop! My first science fiction story has been accepted for publication, and will come out tomorrow in Nature Futures.
I’ve loved Nature’s Futures column as a light fiction snack in between reading scientific literature. Whenever I had a rough day in the lab, I could take a few minutes to read one of the stories, and feel a bit refreshed (or feel validated in my feelings of impending doom, depending on the story). I hope my story can do the same for all those suffering PhD students out there today. If it’s in a science journal, it counts as work, right?
Of course, I also find it hilarious that I can now brag about having a Nature publication. So, erm, I guess that excuses my poor blogging habits, right?
